TECHNIQUES & COLOR MIXING
Before you start working on anything representational, I would like to encourage you to experiment a bit with “mark making.” This is a wonderful exercise and lots of fun. Break out those art supplies and play around with different marks on a sheet of paper. You can use your sketchbook or any scrap paper. Draw with the point of your colored pencils, and then with the broad side. Swirl some chalk pastel around until the edges soften as they go out. Squiggle some lines! Make the marks interact with each other. Have fun—this will loosen you up!
