I think we have all heard someone say that you shouldn’t ask yourself if your hard drive will fail, but instead, when your hard will drive fail. I know from first-hand experience that it can be extremely unpleasant when a hard drive crashes and you haven’t been diligent about creating backups of your photographs. After losing a significant number of images early on due to drive failure, I decided that it was going to be a lot less work (and a lot less stress in the long run) if I committed to a timely and consistent backup strategy.
