TALENT REVIEW

The talent review is the next building block of the succession planning life cycle and draws from the key positions and key candidates’ blueprint discussed in chapter 5. A talent review is “a meeting to engage more senior business leaders in sharing and discussing talent information, often part of an overall succession management process” (Lamoureaux 2008).

The goal for the talent review is to have a slate of candidates who can assume new responsibilities in key positions, with different degrees of readiness, without creating unrealistic expectations among senior managers or candidates. Some candidates may be ready now, others ...
