Chapter 1: Recognition and Learning by a Computer

1.1. Recognition by a computer means the ability of a computer to recognize the pattern of an object that it already knows, and it can be looked at as a process of transforming the pattern function of an object into a more structured representation of the information. Recognition on a computer is about low-level information processing that can extract the structure of a pattern and high-level information processing that can understand conceptually the structure of a pattern structure using knowledge. On the other hand, in everyday life, the word recognition is used to mean knowing, conceptually understanding, finding true properties of an object, and so on.
