So far we have been looking at PBE from a technical perspective, which is an important perspective for a technical book. But writing software is not only about technical information and discussions. The cliché “Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door” is not entirely true. Patterns and PBE provide us with a great mousetrap, but we need to look at and understand the economic considerations of these approaches if we aim to be truly successful.
