Now that you know all about buying with PayPal, and you have set up your selling preferences, it's time for the main event — auctioning an item on eBay. Offering bidders the chance to pay with PayPal is a smart move if you want more bidders — and who doesn't? According to a survey of random eBay buyers, three out of four prefer PayPal over other payment methods. (Hey — the survey was cited on the PayPal Web site … it wasn't just me asking friends for their opinions.)
This chapter shows you how to list an item on eBay and set up PayPal as the payment method. For obvious reasons, the information given in this chapter has a PayPal-centric view of the process. Unlike a garage sale, selling on eBay isn't free … you pay a fee to list and sell items. The higher the value of the item, the higher the fee. Table 8-1 shows the eBay fees at the time this book was written.
