6.1 Standardize format

A simple way to split a large file is to mark it with regions corresponding to the separate files you want to obtain. This is done by using the mouse to select a section of audio and then pressing F8. This will create a ‘basic’ region (Figures 6.1 and 6.2). F8 combined with shift or shift/control produce different types of regions used when burning CDs. There is also a ‘Beat’ and ‘phrase’ marker that can be used when generating music loops using options available under ‘Edit\Auto-Mark\…’ (Figure 6.3).
