7.1. Series Resonance

Some interesting things can happen when we combine capacitive reactance and inductive reactance in a circuit. Series reactances (Figure 7-1) add the same way resistors do. So if we have a capacitive reactance, Xc, and an inductive reactance, X_L, they combine to form a total reactance, X_Total, as follows:
