17.1. A Proposition
Consider Proposition 17.1.
Any signal propagating along any conductor will reflect off the far end of the conductor back toward the driver.
This proposition is universally true. It is true regardless of what is at the far end and even if the far end is an open circuit or is shorted. There is one exception to Proposition 17.1 that applies only in a very special case that has been very carefully and intentionally designed in. That exception is what this chapter is all about.
