A lot of p2p discussion is just about the technology, and one can see definitions of the term that fully reflect that view, such as the one given by Peer to Peer Working Group (www.peer-to-peerwg.org)—perhaps one of the better definitions, even though it seems to ignore the communicative aspect (that is, IM) altogether.
