CHAPTER 1 The People-Centric Journey Begins
MATT SANDERS STOOD with his hands behind his back, pensively looking out the 12-story window of his office building. It was a bright, sunny, and crisp autumn day in Chicago. His view of the Chicago River, and the hypnotic procession of boats, helped calm his uncharacteristically frayed nerves.
Matt glanced at his reflection in the floor-to-ceiling window of his office. In the reflection, he saw a 47-year-old executive intently staring back. He is six feet tall, but like most men, usually thought of himself as a couple of inches taller; he has a square firm jaw, prominent nose, piercing dark eyes, and an erect military bearing from his tour with the Air Force. His dark hair has streaks of gray at the temples, which he has reluctantly convinced himself makes him look more distinguished. At least Leslie, his wife, tells him so.
