A primary role of leaders is to set, articulate, and behave according to the values of the organization and to set the ethical tone for the organization. Survey items in this chapter are designed to help you learn about employees’ understanding of and commitment to the fundamental principles underpinning the integrity of your organization. These survey items assume that there is some clarity among the leadership team as to the values and ethical standards of the organization. If your organization has yet to develop such clarity, or if there has not been a recent discussion of values and ethics, you may want to hold off surveying employees on this topic.
