Performance monitoring in hardware relates mainly to slot positioning in the chassis; the following MIB variables can help you identify the type of interface processors (IPs) installed. Based on the slot positioning of these cards, you can effectively predict and determine the backplane, hardware buffer, and IDB usage in the chassis—based on the architectural overview discussed at the beginning of this chapter.
