QUICK RESPONSE MANUFACTURING (QRM)

Quick response manufacturing (QRM) is another lean management practice that originated in the 1980s, which focuses on lead time optimization to enhance productivity. It is an extension of just-in-time (JIT) concept that emphasizes on customer satisfaction by quickly responding to customer's requirements. QRM reduces lead times in all activities of the organization by analysing various processes using step-by-step approach. At the outset, it requires understanding of the whole organization, and its parts, and then focusing on those that particularly affect the lead time.
