As new partnerships at all levels of government in all domains of democracy work together in a renewed effort to help our neighborhoods and our nation achieve exactly the results that citizens want, government will become more effective and more responsive. Communication and feedback will provide mechanisms for self-correction, supporting the emergence of new teams and new structures—and leading to better results. Stepping back, we will see governance comprising performance networks as living systems that exhibit the characteristics of adaptability, flexibility, and interconnectedness.
