Optimal Selection of Error Correction and Retransmission Parameters in Multichannel Communications Systems
7.1 Background
In this chapter, we will discuss the method of performance optimization of multicarrier systems with forward error correction (FEC) and automatic repeat request (ARQ). The essence of the method is reducing the evaluation of the performance of a typical multicarrier channel to the evaluation of the performance of a single quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) channel with the average parameters of all subchannels of that multicarrier channel.
