Chapter 5. Application Network Analysis
The approach to performing an application network analysis of Web-based applications remains unchanged between operating systems (Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP), development technologies (static HTML, ASP, Windows DNA, and now .NET), and data access technologies (RDO, ADO and ADO.NET). This process has remained consistent because the primary protocol used to communicate over the Internet (TCP/IP) has not changed. With the advent of .NET and software as a service, this approach can be used to identify network-related bottlenecks and improve the network performance of both legacy applications and those built with the .NET Framework.
