Now that you understand the basics of one- and two-point perspective, it is time to discuss how to make proportions correct by measuring. In every drawing it is important to ensure the proportions are correct. We must be aware of measuring not only the object, but also areas within the object. For instance, the top of the cube must be the right size and shape in comparison to the sides and front. All objects are relative to one another and can be measured against each other. For example, if there is a cup and a large book on a table in a room full of objects, we would start with the cup. By drawing the cup correctly, we can then compare the book to it.
