Introduction
During Drucker’s career, the world witnessed a dizzying array of technological advances. Following World War II, America’s war production capabilities were modified for peacetime purposes. Research and development advances, coupled with a post-war industrial boom, led to new technologies including television, computers, satellites, nylon and other synthetics, and wide array of consumer goods. After the war, President Truman instituted the Marshall Plan, a massive program of economic aid to western Europe to rebuild the economy of that part of the world.
