Chapter 7. Windows XP Configuration
Some people install Windows and immediately begin installing applications. The reasons vary from not knowing there’s anything else to do to not having time to do much else. The ideal setup sequence is to install Windows, install any required patches, check for hardware problems, and configure the system. If you do all this before you begin installing applications, you’ll find that your system experiences fewer problems, runs faster, and is more reliable and more stable.
