Considering the multimedia orientation the Internet is taking, everyone’s use of multimedia will only increase in the future. Everyone seems to be embracing multimedia in a big way. Even Microsoft has a multimedia-specific Web site (http://windowsmedia.com/mg/home.asp) that we’ll visit later in this chapter. Multimedia on the Internet includes not only visual effects, but also audio effects. I regularly get cards from Blue Mountain (http://www.bluemountain.com/) that include a combination of animated effects and audio. In fact, some stores such as CD-Now (http://www.cdnow.com/) are using this new method of getting you to buy both CDs and videos.
