Printing is one of the fundamental requirements for every computer setup, but, because printers vary widely in capability, it remains one of the most burdensome parts of an installation. Windows XP improves the printing process over what most people were used to seeing with previous versions of Windows. One change over older Windows 9x versions is the use of Windows Driver Model (WDM) drivers, which should improve the robustness and usability of the printer drivers.
