Introduction
Complexity is at play whenever someone picks up a camera to shoot a video story. On the one hand, to shoot a video story badly is very easy. Most cameras, even DSLRs, have auto functions that allow anyone to aim, hit the record button, and follow people at will. However, the variety of shots one captures in this shoot-and-piece-it-together-later mode of working rarely produces a good story. The irony, then, is that while it may seem easy to shoot video, to capture the right shots for storytelling is a harder skill to grasp.
