It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

FOR THE LAST DECADE OR SO, I have led a dual life. One part of me has been a photographer and the other part an independent environmental humanities scholar, so research is fundamental to many of the things that I do. I think of photography and research in very specific ways, but for me they are inseparable.
