Eugene Richards
Eugene Richards is one of the most admired photojournalists working
today. He photographs at the fringe of social issues, concerns, and
inequities, photographing the harsh realities of his subjects’ lives
without censoring his images or sentimentalizing the situations. As
unvarnished as his photographs are, they are also intensely personal and
they pulsate with passion. Although the impact of his work is activist,
Richards staunchly denies that label. He is a reporter, he says. Richards
