Band, label, or manager directing the shoot?

Q: WHEN SHOOTING A BAND, DO YOU WORK CLOSELY WITH THEIR MANAGEMENT OR THE BAND ITSELF AS FAR AS THE “LOOK” THEY DESIRE, OR DO THE MAJORITY LET YOU DO YOUR THING? HOW DO YOU HANDLE A BAND THAT TELLS YOU HOW TO SHOOT RIGHT DOWN TO WHERE THE SHADOWS FALL?

A: Typically the band and the management are on the same track as to what they want. Sometimes there’s a rub between band and label. Sometimes no one has an idea of what they really want, or one of them has the idea. So, it’s hard to say but I guess for the most part everyone involved has some sort of loose idea of what they want. We then collaborate to make that happen.
