Personal Personal Projects.
Q: ANY ADVICE FOR CREATING PERSONAL PROJECTS? AFTER YEARS OF WANDERING AROUND WITH MY CAMERA TAKING PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING, I WANT TO FOCUS ON SMALL PROJECTS. HOPEFULLY IT WILL SLOW ME DOWN, ALLOW ME TO FOCUS, AND LEAD TO BETTER WORK. WITH A DAY JOB AND FAMILY LIFE (INCLUDING A TWO-YEAR-OLD), I DON’T GET MUCH TIME TO WORK ON PHOTOGRAPHY. IT’S A TOUGH JOB TO DO AS A PROFESSION, SO I THINK I’M HAPPY TO STAY AS AN AMATEUR IN THE TRADITIONAL SENSE, BUT WOULD LOVE TO SOMEHOW SELF-FUND MY HOBBY. IS IT WORTH SENDING LINKS TO ONLINE BLOGS OR MAGAZINES TO GET SOME FEEDBACK AND SEE IF I AM HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION? OR IS IT BEST TO “DO MY OWN THING,” AND IF IT’S GOOD PEOPLE WILL FIND ME?
