Acousto-optic (AO) devices can be used to design a host of photonic modules for a variety of applications. The simple placement of optical components within the right 3D layout framework in an optical design can surprisingly achieve challenging system functions via an elegant design. Hence this chapter describes how AO devices can be deployed within an intelligent optical components visual and physical framework to perform desired system specific functions.
