Have you ever seen a photo with a particular effect, and wondered how that effect was achieved? Maybe it was a shot of a bright beach with a darker sky, or a soft-focus portrait, or a shot with a pinpoint light and a starburst effect. Some of these effects can be added in the digital darkroom, of course, but a better approach is to achieve the effect “in the camera”—that is, to create the shot with the effect already in place.
