Rating Systems & Methods

Everyone has a different way of specifying the quality of images. Bridge and Lightroom use stars to indicate relative goodness. But decide how you’ll read those stars before applying star ratings to any images.

We have up to five stars to use. Bridge offers an additional catagory: Reject. In Lightroom, there are stars and two flags: one to indicate a Rejected image, the other Flagged. Using some combination of indicators, we’ll try to whittle away at the dozens or thousands of images we have just downloaded to reveal just that one image (or five or 20) that we think is definitive and worthy of development. Below I’ve outlined a few of my favorite rating systems.
