WRITING CUSTOM SCRIPTS

Scripts, like actions, allow you to automate common tasks, but

are much more powerful. Instead of recording and playing back

a linear sequence of events, you can build in “if this→then that”

logic. Scripts can be written in JavaScript (Mac and Windows),

Visual Basic (Windows-only), or AppleScript (Mac-only).

Image Processor, which I discussed

earlier in this chapter, is a JavaScript.

So is Get Photos from Camera, which

I discussed in Chapter 2. Figure 12-61

shows a folder full of scripts that I use

occasionally. Scripts are good, and

many people enjoy writing their own

and sharing them via the Web for

free—or for a nominal charge. I have

friends who do that—but I don’t.

This is what I suggest. If you are like

me, periodically check the Adobe

web site (Figure 12-62) for scripts

that sound interesting (www.adobe.

com/cfusion/exchange/). Follow

the instructions for loading them.

Try them out. See if they work. (I’ve

downloaded a few dogs.) If you want

to write your own, refer to the Adobe

online help. Me, I’m tired of spending

so much time in front of a computer.
