Chapter 15. Color Correction and Color Changes

IN THIS CHAPTER

Preparing to work with color

Color correction

Color changes

Color is a powerful thing. You can use it to command attention, convey mood, describe your product, make a good design great, and dramatically enhance a dull image. Admittedly, deciding you will master the former in Photoshop comes with a little bit of a learning curve.

Not to worry. This chapter will show you many tools and techniques to correct images that have overall color that is just wrong, as well as ways to change individual objects' colors. I know you liked finger paints and magic markers at one time or another. Yes? Then maybe you owe it to your inner artist to discover Photoshop's color powers. No? Well, maybe you owe it to your inner expert to master its color mysteries.

Get your coffee and read on for ways to get rid of that annoying green tint from fluorescent lighting, show a one-color T-shirt in multiple colors, give a hand-tinted look to a black-and-white portrait, and make a lifeless photo come alive with vibrant color.
