26.2. Working with Images for Video

In addition to importing existing video or image sequences into a composition, you can create documents from scratch; create or import artwork, photos, and other elements to be animated; and export your animations in the video formats mentioned earlier in this chapter. You can also move your Photoshop files with video and animation information between video applications like Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Read on to learn how to prepare images for video.

Into automation? Photoshop ships with a number of actions specifically designed to automatically perform complex sets of video-related actions. To use these time-saving features, show the Actions menu by choosing it from the Window menu. Next, choose Video Actions from the Actions panel's Options menu. Specify whether to Replace or Append the actions to the currently loaded selections, and you're ready to go.

26.2.1. Creating images for video

To create a new document using standard video presets, choose FileNew, and select Film & Video from the Preset menu (see Figure 26.3). From the Size menu, you can specify the format that your video is destined for, and Photoshop applies the correct pixel dimensions, frame rate, and aspect ratio to your file.
