Chapter 6, “Basic Object-Oriented Programming,” covers the fundamental concepts of OOP in PHP. Those concepts include: defining a class, creating an object, accessing class attributes (variables) using $this
, creating constructors, and creating destructors. A fair amount of theory is also discussed there, as that’s half the OOP battle. Complete comfort with the contents of that chapter is a prerequisite for this one.
Here, things get more advanced (hence the chapter title!), really getting into the more abstract aspects of OOP. Again, ample time will be given to theory.
