Chapter 6. Risk Management
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again here—HR is an ever-evolving, ever-expanding profession. Perhaps nowhere is this more evident than in this functional area—formerly known as “occupational health, safety and security” and now renamed/reclassified as “risk management.” This shift represents far more than just a change in title; rather, it reflects a shift in focus that recognizes HR’s role in the proactive identification, anticipation, mitigation, and management of risks. It’s also important to keep in mind that this shift in focus represents an expansion of HR’s former role rather than a replacement of it; our prior, more transactional responsibilities still remain.
