Developing leaders within the organization is a key objective for HR professionals, specifically for those who are involved in organization development.
Leadership is difficult to define, as many different individuals have set forth just as many different definitions. Leadership is also very different from management, although those terms are often (mis)used interchangeably. In simplest terms, leadership can be defined as the ability to encourage “followership” to attain specific objectives. Without followers, there can be no leaders. Without effective leaders, there will be no followers, and there will be no organized, implemented strategy for attaining organizational objectives.
