HRD: The Importance of ADDIE
While the ADDIE model can be applied in any of the functional areas within HR, it is perhaps most frequently referenced with respect to HRD (specifically, training and instructional design). Therefore, much of the information in this chapter (and, perhaps, on the PHR exam) relating to ADDIE use training-specific examples. As you move through the chapter, however, please keep in mind the broader applications of ADDIE.
ADDIE: An Overview
As mentioned in Chapter 2, the acronym “ADDIE” represents the following five steps:
- A: Analysis/assessment (of needs)
- D: Design
- D: Development
- I: Implementation
- E: Evaluation
