Much has been written about leaders and how they develop: are they born or made? There is little agreement in research about where leaders come from. Does the effectiveness of a leader depend on the situation? Which is more important as a function of leadership—the ability to develop structures or the ability to develop people? One thing is certain: however they do so, effective leaders are able to inspire the people around them to do their best work and influence people to follow them in achieving a common goal.
