Total Rewards

The function of total rewards is composed of all employer programs that are used to attract, motivate, and retain employees. You have probably heard the terms compensation and benefits before. These are the two primary programs that make up total rewards, in addition to many other programs that will be reviewed in this chapter. In many ways, the total rewards function is the lifeblood of the employment relationship between the worker and the employer. Rewards have a significant effect on the quality and quantity of work produced by employees. Fifteen percent of the PHR exam will focus on this area of knowledge.
