Chapter 6Character Animation

Believable movement of characters has very likely been a big part of your animation studies. While you can learn a lot by observing real life and studying others’ work, your character animation skills can get a big boost by learning a few key physics concepts.

Jumping

A jump is an action where the character’s entire body is in the air, and both the character’s feet leave the ground at roughly the same time. A jump action includes a takeoff, free movement through the air, and a landing.
