Glen Tullman, chief executive officer (CEO) of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions from 1997 to 2012, transformed a failing drug repackaging company into a $1.4 billion leader in electronic health records (EHR), laying the foundation for a fundamental change in the cost and quality of our health and health care system. By building the industry’s most widely used system, including more than 180,000 physicians, 1,500 hospitals, and 10,000 ­post-acute-care centers using Allscripts software, the company established the infrastructure for patient-centered care.
