Jon was working on a report for his boss’s presentation before a congressional subcommittee. He had carefully planned and organized the report, drafted the paragraphs with topic sentences, checked for the proper tone, used the active voice, and performed a substantive edit to make sure the report was complete but not wordy. Still, something did not seem right.
