Building Real-World XML Applications
You have seen that XML technologies are in a phase of rapid change. The supporting tools are to a significant extent in an immature state, partly determined by the absence of definitive recommendations for some important XML technologies.
In the next year or so, some of the key technologies, such as XML Schema, XSL-FO, SVG, and so on will very likely come onstream as full recommendations. A real synergy is present between the various facets of XML that can't be fully realized until the key standards have been defined and supporting tools disseminated.
