Setting Shutdown and Restart Options

A lot of conversation centers on getting XP booted up and running. Just as important are the settings that close XP down properly. It makes me chuckle a bit whenever I write a little piece about XP and note that the first step in shutting down XP is clicking the Start button. It just seems totally incongruous, but as you know, improper shutdown is an invitation to lost data and a corrupt operating system.

By default, clicking Start will present the Log Off and Turn Off Computer options at the bottom of the Start Menu. Log Off is a new XP feature associated with Fast User Switching.
