Macintosh Connectivity
Like Novell, for many years Apple had gone its own way when it comes to networking protocols. Of these legacy Apple protocols, AppleTalk is predominant, and it was even supported directly by Windows NT and Windows 2000 in order to connect Windows machines to networked Apple printers. Market pressures being what they are, today's Macs are able to use both the older proprietary protocols, as well as the standard Internet Protocol (IP).
You can use any of several approaches to integrate Macs with Windows on your network, as outlined in Table 20.1.
