Advanced Disk Management from the Command Line

Although it is often easier (and safer) to carry out management options from within the Windows GUI, sometimes it becomes necessary to work from the command line. Some people, the die-hards like myself, prefer the command line as we've been used to using it for so long. Another extremely useful and valid reason for working from the command line comes into play when using scripts and batch files to execute configuration changes automatically—even from across the network. Command-line support for disk management in Windows XP Professional is superb to say the least and two new tools, fsutil and diskpart, give you power like never before.
