Command-Line Management Tools

One of the main reasons people write scripts and batch files is to help maintain and administer Windows and Windows networks. Where Windows Script Host has a host of objects that help you perform management tasks, the batch file language has only command-line programs to work with.

In this section, I'll outline a few of the command-line programs provided with Windows XP that can help you perform routine maintenance and administrative tasks from the command line and from batch files.
