Chapter 8 Five great lies — don’t be misled
There are five great lies we live by that stop us from introducing any significant change in our life. These lies, as we'll now see, definitely prevent us from playing a bigger game.
Lie 1: not enough time
How often do you hear someone say, ‘I just don't have the time' or ‘I will when … ' (when I win the lottery, when I get married, when the kids grow up, when I retire, etc.)? You have exactly the same amount of time in your day as did Mozart, Michelangelo, Muhammad Ali, Margaret Thatcher, Mother Teresa, and the list goes on …
Everyone gets 24 hours per day; use every minute wisely.
We all get 24 hours in a day to spend. What really defines us as individuals is how we invest that time. This is a total of 1440 minutes! How are you spending your time? We often put things off, waiting till we get the time, or the perfect time. Unfortunately for some people, that time never comes.
How much would it be worth to find more time in every week?
We live in a world of fast.
We live in a world of fast, don't we? We want everything now, straight away — instant coffee is not quick enough for us any more. How can you get things done without needing any extra time? Look for opportunities to merge activities. If you can pick up 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there, before you know it you've picked up an hour. How much is an hour worth to you in a society that runs at a million miles an hour?
