Unions and guilds are singular of purpose: They exist to serve and to protect their members. Union rules should never be ignored. They should also never be assumed. Union regulations often pose challenges; at times, the logic of certain rules may seem arbitrary. Some union members argue that the policies harm them as much as they help them. At times, the various unions appear to work against each other, rather than collaboratively.
