GENERATING 3D ELEMENTS IN AFTER EFFECTS
When one thinks of 3D, several things come to mind, including funny glasses. However, in the world of After Effects and 2D video footage, 3D means something completely different. 3D elements within After Effects deal with objects and shapes in 3D space within a 2D world. In other words, while the object can be rotated and positioned in 3D space, the layer itself remains a 2D layer with no thickness or depth (often referred to as a “postcard in space”). Camera positions with extruded and beveled edges will help to simulate 3D in a 2D space.
